Many of us, through one season or another in our lives, need someone safe to share our hurts, griefs, life’s struggles and disappointments with. Our Lay Ministry offers a warm, caring and confidential environment, where you can explore your feelings/hurts/needs with our trained lay counselors.

South Kitsap Lay Counseling (SK Lay Counseling) offers one-on-one and marriage counseling in an environment of acceptance and compassion, without judgment. Counseling at SK Lay Counseling is faith-based counseling. Our volunteer lay counselors have training and experience to help with your struggles, including relationship conflict, family relationships, grief, anxiety, depression, life changes, faith struggles, and parenting issues.

SK Lay Counseling Center provides:

  1.  Faith/bible-based counseling
  2.  Counseling for adults, 18 and over. We provide integrated counseling, giving each person a variety of modalities that may meet the needs of their own specific circumstances.
  3.  Individual, marriage, and pre-marital counseling
  4.  Confidentiality with your personal information
  5.  Donation based counseling

Individual and marriage counseling is not designed to provide long-term counseling (a limit of 13 sessions) but to bridge the gap during times of crisis and help fulfill the transition into professional counseling. The lay counselors reserve the right to refer you to a specialized counselor or therapist if your lay counselor feels the situation is beyond her/his ability or training. Our desire is to give you the best possible care but there may be those who would be better served in licensed professional care.

Our lay counselors have been trained through Light University as well as additional course training with a local volunteer Licensed LMFT Counselor.

SK Lay Counselors are dedicated, loving men and women who desire to make a difference by coming along side others. They come from a variety of backgrounds with life experiences that span the spectrum of hurts and victories. Our counselors are not professionals, they are volunteers who have lived through challenges and understand the need for support during difficult seasons in life. Their training and life experience together may make them a blessing for you in this season of your life.

SK Lay Counseling Center is not:

  1. Professional therapy or licensed life coaching
  2. Counseling service for clinical issues
  3. Crisis or drop-in based counseling
